I wish there were adequate words and images we could share with our readers that could depict how full our hearts are after our first full day in Uganda with the students and staff of LEAD Uganda. We were warmly welcomed late on Thursday night at the airport by an entourage of kids and staff. They hugged us and greeted us with their beautiful smiles. We made the hour and a half drive to the LEAD house in Kampala where we were met with loud cheers and more hugs and smiles. We immediately fell in love with every single child and staff member we met. Each one of them is so full of love and joy. We stayed up late and shared our first authentic Ugandan meal which was the best food I have ever eaten by the wonderful Momma Zerina - the house cook. We got a good night of sleep and had a full day on Friday - which I will let others share about. I just wanted to report that we had safe and uneventful travel to Entebbe, Uganda, all of our bags arrived, all of us are healthy and doing well, and enjoying every minute of time with these students. They are intelligent, kind, warm, friendly, sincere, deep, sincere in their faith, and hopeful for the dreams they have for their lives. Most of them are shining leaders in their schools - top schools in the country! I am humbled and blessed to spend the next several days deepening our friendships. With Peace, Sarah Sykes (former Forefront Intern, and current LEAD Uganda Admin Assistant - Brooklyn, NY)
