It’s very hard to believe that we’ve only been in Kampala 3 days. So much has happened.
It has been a joy to meet all of the children and their caretakers. We were all given such warm welcomes that it was like coming home to family. The hugs are endless, helping to fuel our tired bodies.
Yesterday, we were able to hear about all the accomplishments LEAD Uganda has made in the past year. It was a very long list:)! Afterward, we were able to split off into small groups and go into the remote parts of Kampala with a few students to meet their families. It was both heart-warming and heart-breaking. When we all returned, we had a dance party at the house. I don’t think I’ve had that much fun since high school!
Today, we taught our first seminar. My group taught a decision-making seminar for the high-school aged boys. They have such high goals and high expectations for themselves. Listening to their responses and getting to know a few of them over the past few days leaves me little doubt that they will indeed accomplish all they hope for.
I hope to post pictures soon. Internet and phone calls are sometimes hard to come by:).
Hugs and kisses to my family and friends,
Angela
